The Faroe Islands has been number one on our list of places we've want to visit for a long time now. With our big South East Asia trip coming up in January (eek), it was either now or sometime in the distant future. We couldn't handle the thought of not knowing when it would be so we impulsively booked our flights for October. Booked, the excitement kicked in and it followed with the extensive planning we normally do with most trips, some would say bordering on obsessive. We were planning to camp and we were met with a wave of negative information about the bad weather at this time of year. (Only 5 sunny days in the month of October, many tourists slip off the mountain and slide to their death when hiking, no campsites are even open etc. etc.) So our excitement turned a bit to dread as all we were imagining was not being able to see a thing because of the fog, being soggy raisins for the week and eventually dying and drifting out to the Atlantic. But we'd booked our flights and our car and there was no turning back, and boy are we glad that we didn't.
This was our first trip to the Faroe Islands, and after only one day there we were already talking about how we wanted to come back in summer, spring, winter! To say that we fell in love would be an understatement, and here's some pictures to show you why.
