The new year brings big plans for us. We've got a long list of places to visit and we're kicking it all off with a trip that we've been planning for almost a year. We've been dreaming about South-East Asia and have been sticking pins in a map for a while, but actually setting off always seemed like a distant dream.
Where was the best place to start? Where was the best place to end up? How long would we be there for?
It took a lot of Googling, a fair amount of Trip Advisor reviews and several hours of scrolling through Pinterest and Instagram, but we've decided to start in Sri Lanka and hopefully make our way from there!
We're starting off with a 30 hour journey that includes 3 flights that stop off in a weird collection of cities, and hopefully we will make it to Colombo Airport with all our bags. Then once our 30 day visa has expired we're hopping over the sea and into the Maldives because this will probably be the only time in our lives that flights to paradise are this cheap! After a few days hopefully hanging out with whale sharks and ice cold mojitos we're flying to Kuala Lumpur for a three day layover, and then into Bangkok. We haven't booked anything after this and we'll be grateful if we even make it this far, but we'll do our best to update this blog as often as we can, using this site as a digital journal where we can share what we've been up to during the course of these next few months.
World Map
This little map helps us to keep a track of where we've been. All the countries coloured green are ones that we've visited and have written or taken photos summarising our trip there.
If you click on a green country you'll be taken to our posts about that place. The red countries are the ones we're planning to visit this year and even though we won't have written a post about them yet, we hope that one day the whole map will be green!
