I feel like one of the main reasons we love backpacking and camping in the middle of nowhere is how the lack of signal is such a forced internet detox and it really is so freeing! Especially when both our jobs are so digital and require you to be present online, and as much as we love creating & connecting on here, finding a balance is key…

Also after our stay at 📍 @unplugged.rest last year (and they kindly sent us a box that we have at home too) it showed us we don’t always need to hike into the remote wilderness to switch off😂

But disappearing into the mountains is definitely how we’ll be spending our summer, being present in those moments and then when you get back you can catch up with all things interweb because living life comes first 🌿

what’s your bucket list long distance hike right now?🥾🗺️

if we had to look back over recent years and pin point some of the times we felt the happiest, they are mostly all on a backpacking trip ahaha🥹 there is just something so unbelievably freeing about carrying everything you need with you, being completely self sufficient and sleeping on the mountain with no one else around 💭

but the longest one we’ve been on so far has been three nights so a big goal of our this summer is to tick off some of our bucket list long distance hikes like the West Highland Way, TMB, Haute Route, Alta Via etc.

it literally blows our minds how beautiful this continent is and I feel like we’ve only just scratched the surface of countries to visit🥹 so blessed to be able to explore so freely, it truly is a road trip paradise! Our bucket list just gets longer every year I swear?!

one of the most incredible places we’ve stayed AND it’s dog-friendly🥹

📍The place is called Fluhalp in Zermatt, Switzerland 🫕

Also because it’s a mountain hut (albeit a very fancy mountain hut) we found it cheaper compared to places in the main town which had crazy prices for anywhere with a view, and this view and whole vibe just so much is better! For this stay we paid about £130 a night each for a double room and yes it’s definitely a splurge but it also includes a full course dinner and buffet breakfast🇨🇭

There are also cheaper dormitory options but not sure they’re dog friendly!

Spring decided to finally make an appearance and we’re so excited to be spending more and more time outdoors 🥹⛺️

But deciding what gear to choose can be overwhelming sometimes, especially with UK weather being so unpredictable. We need gear that will stand up to the elements, whilst also wanting to make greener choices 🌎

For our adventures this Spring, Trekitt suggested we try these PFC-free waterproof boots from Scarpa’s Planet collection, made from recycled materials🥾 And we put them through their paces on our recent overnight adventure bagging two Munros ‘An Caisteal and Beinn a’Chròin’. In true Scotland style, we had every terrain imaginable including scrambling, snow, mud and a LOT of bog. But our feet stayed bone dry all weekend so they did not disappoint 😊
